‘Kocha! Koooocha!’ the young girl thought to herself. ‘Oi! You gotta hear this! …I got the mint pandas you love! …No answer, I give up! Really is no waking her when she’s sleeping. Well, at least she can’t be mad at me for lying. You can’t hear that right? Sleepyhead. Anyw—'
“ANATA!” The middle-age woman yelled.
“I know, I know. Lis—” replied the evidently older man.
“This was your idea, remember!”
Holding back his anger, the man sternly continued, “Listen here, we can’t rush this. No one must know about this.”
“But—”
“THINGS ARe... in the works.” Now grasping the woman, he goes on, “I have set up a discreet meeting with a neuro-cyberneticist who is ‘willing’ to do this for us. We decided a date just this morning. Come next week, Yoshino’s “friend”, Kota, will be gone.”
Tension seemed to ease between the pair as the thought that their problem child would be cured of what they thought to be her disability. She would finally be ‘normal’. Furious yet horrified at the idea of Kota being erased, Yoshino stomped off before she could hear more. Having just been in earshot, naturally the two parents heard the banging and frantically the mother followed Yoshino down the hall.
“Yocchi!” the mother called out as the bedroom door slammed in her face.
“I heard everything, hottoite!”
“I’m not leaving! Open the door please. I—You’re father he just wants the best for you. I can talk to him.”
No response. She continued to plead before realizing her husband was behind her. With a mad look on his face, he shoved the woman aside and simply stated before storming off, “Next Wednesday.” However, come the next day, Yoshino was no where to be seen.
